Telangana Police Driver and Mechanic Eligibility 2026

Candidates must satisfy the gender, age, academic, technical, physical and medical conditions applicable to the selected post. Admission at every stage is provisional until the Board verifies the original certificates.

Gender Eligibility

Only male candidates are eligible for Post Code 35 and Post Code 36.

Qualification for SCT Police Constable (Mechanics)

For Post Code 35, a candidate must have passed SSC or an examination recognized by the Telangana Government as equivalent to SSC. He must also possess an Industrial Training Institute certificate in any one of the following trades:

  • Auto Electrician
  • Mechanic Motor Vehicle
  • Mechanic Diesel
  • Fitter

The required qualification must have been obtained on or before 29 July 2026. The candidate must produce the consolidated marks memorandum or an equivalent pass certificate during certificate verification. A certificate produced after the prescribed verification deadline will not be considered.

Qualification for SCT Police Constable (Driver)

For Post Code 36, a candidate must satisfy either of the following academic routes as on 29 July 2026:

  1. Intermediate or an examination recognized as equivalent by the State Board of Intermediate Education; or
  2. SSC or an equivalent examination along with an ITI certificate in Auto Electrician, Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Mechanic Diesel or Fitter.

In addition to the academic qualification, the candidate must have possessed a valid Heavy Passenger Motor Vehicle licence and Heavy Goods Vehicle or Transport Vehicle licence as prescribed in the notification on 29 July 2026. The driving licence must remain valid when the candidate appears for the Driving Test.

The candidate must furnish the driving-licence information or grant-of-issue record issued by the concerned RTA licensing authority during certificate verification.

Home Guard Age Condition

An eligible Home Guard must have completed at least 360 days of duty within the two years preceding the notification and must still be serving as a Home Guard.

Long jump and shot put are qualifying in nature. When a candidate applies for more than one eligible TSLPRB notification issued within the common period, PMT/PET is generally conducted only once and the same readings or scores are used for the other applicable posts.

Trade Test for Police Constable Mechanics

Driving Test for Police Constable Driver

Mechanic Technical Paper

The Mechanic syllabus includes automobile fundamentals; two-stroke and four-stroke spark-ignition engines; compression-ignition engines; petrol and diesel engine components; valves; cooling and lubrication; petrol fuel and ignition systems; diesel fuel injection; intake and exhaust; batteries; automotive electricity; alternators, dynamos, cut-outs, fuses, self-starters and wiring; brakes; transmission; wheel alignment; steering; suspension; mechanic and workshop tools; vehicle servicing; roadworthiness checks; fleet maintenance; and safety precautions.

Driver Technical Paper

The Driver syllabus includes maintenance responsibilities; daily, weekly and periodic maintenance; batteries and specific gravity; tyre maintenance and rotation; fuel, ignition, lighting, brake, clutch and transmission systems; fuel accountability; dashboard instruments; canopy, seats, windscreen and wipers; minor repairs such as fan-belt replacement, puncture repair and air-lock removal; the Motor Vehicles Act and Rules; traffic signals; first aid; and safety precautions.

If two or more candidates in the same category secure equal marks, preference will be given to the candidate born earlier.
