Telangana Police Constable Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the age, qualification, gender, physical, medical, local-status, and category requirements for the post selected. Issuance of a hall ticket does not mean that eligibility has been finally accepted.
Educational Qualification
Candidates must have passed Intermediate or an equivalent examination recognised by the State Government on or before 29 July 2026.
The Intermediate pass certificate and marks memorandum, or an equivalent certificate, must be produced during certificate verification. A higher qualification will be considered on par with the prescribed qualification, but it does not replace the need to prove the required qualification by the cut-off date.
Additional Qualification for Fire Fighter
Candidates applying for post code 26, Fire Fighter, must possess a valid Light Motor Vehicle driving licence as of 29 July 2026. The driving licence information issued by the concerned RTA licensing authority must be produced during certificate verification.
Age Limit
The age is calculated as of 1 July 2026.
- The normal age rule for post codes 21 to 23 and 25 to 28 is 18 years to below 22 years.
- The Telangana Government has granted an additional five-year increase in the upper age limit for this direct recruitment to uniformed services. Accordingly, the effective general upper-age ceiling extends by five years, subject to the conditions in the notification.
- Eligible Home Guards must be at least 18 years old and normally below 40 years, with the notified five-year upper-age increase also applicable. They must have completed at least 360 days of duty during the previous two years and must still be serving as Home Guards on the notification date.
- Separate provisions apply to eligible widows, divorced women and judicially separated women who have not remarried.
Candidates should calculate their age under the exact category and post selected instead of relying only on the general limit.
Upper-Age Relaxation
| Category | Relaxation stated in the notification |
|---|---|
| Telangana State Government employees | Length of regular service, up to 5 years |
| Ex-servicemen | 3 years plus length of eligible service in the Armed Forces |
| Eligible NCC instructors | 3 years plus length of eligible NCC service |
| SC, ST, BC and EWS candidates | 5 years |
Employees of TSTRANSCO, DISCOMs, TSGENCO, State Road Transport Corporation, other State corporations, municipalities, local bodies, and public-sector undertakings are not treated as Telangana State Government employees for this particular age-relaxation provision.
Category-based age relaxation and reservation benefits generally require valid certificates from the competent Telangana authority. Non-local candidates belonging to BC, SC or ST categories are not entitled to Telangana reservation benefits merely on the basis of their category.
