1 What is AIIMS CRE-5 Recruitment 2026?

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, through its Examination Section, has officially released the Detailed Recruitment Advertisement (DRA) for the Common Recruitment Examination – 5 (CRE-5) vide Notice No. 93/2026 dated June 13, 2026. This is one of the largest and most prestigious central government recruitment drives of 2026, opening doors for thousands of aspirants to secure permanent government jobs across premier healthcare institutions in India.

The AIIMS CRE-5 is a unified, single-window recruitment platform designed to fill various regular Non-Faculty Group-B and Group-C posts across participating All India Institutes of Medical Sciences and other Central Government institutes and autonomous bodies. The examination is conducted entirely by the Examination Section of AIIMS New Delhi, while appointments are made by respective participating organisations as per their individual Recruitment Rules (RRs).

This mega recruitment drive covers 59 different post groups spanning diverse professional domains — from administrative roles and engineering positions to allied health services, nursing, pharmacy, laboratory technology, and many more. With 32 prestigious institutions participating, including multiple AIIMS campuses from Kashmir to Kerala, and from Rajasthan to West Bengal, the AIIMS CRE-5 is truly a national-level opportunity for eligible Indian nationals.

The CRE model simplifies the application process considerably. Instead of applying separately to each institute, candidates can submit a single application per group and exercise preferences for multiple institutions — making it more accessible and efficient for job seekers across the country.

  • The examination is conducted without scrutiny of eligibility at the CBT stage — candidates are provisionally allowed. However, ineligibility detected at ANY stage, including after joining, will result in cancellation.
  • Admit card does not guarantee eligibility or appointment — it only permits participation in the examination.
  • AIIMS reserves the right to cancel, modify, or withdraw any vacancy at any stage.
  • After seat allocation, candidates must report for joining within the stipulated date. Failure to do so leads to cancellation of candidature for CRE.
  • Post allocation is based on merit and candidate’s order of preference. AIIMS New Delhi bears no responsibility for service conditions, posting locations, or HR decisions of individual institutes.
  • All legal disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of Delhi Courts alone.
  • Mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, and electronic gadgets are strictly prohibited in the examination hall.

13 Facilities for PwBD Candidates

Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) — defined as 40% or more disability as per the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 — are entitled to the following facilities:

  • Candidates with blindness, locomotor disability (both arms), or cerebral palsy may request a Scribe to write the exam on their behalf.
  • Compensatory Time: 20 additional minutes per hour of examination for eligible PwBD candidates.
  • Candidates may opt for their own scribe or request one from AIIMS — this must be declared at the time of application.
  • Scribe qualification is one level below the minimum qualification for the post (matriculate or below).
  • PwBD candidates with less than 40% disability but having physical limitation in writing may also request a scribe with a certificate from a Government hospital’s Chief Medical Officer.

14 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: Can I apply for multiple post groups in AIIMS CRE-5?
Yes. You can apply for multiple groups. However, a separate application form and separate examination fee payment are required for each group. You may need to appear in multiple exam shifts/days if you apply for several groups.
Q: Is there a reservation for different categories?
Yes. Vacancies are reserved as per Central Government norms for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and PwBD candidates. Reservation percentages and specific conditions are governed by the Recruitment Rules of each participating institute.
Q: When will I be able to choose my preferred institute?
Choice and preference for institutions will be invited separately from candidates who qualify the CBT. Candidates must exercise their preferences within the specified time frame — failure to do so means no seat will be allocated to them at any institute.
Q: What is the medium of the examination?
For posts requiring education up to 10th/12th level, the exam is bilingual (English and Hindi). For posts requiring technical domain knowledge or bachelor’s degree and above, the exam is in English only.
Q: What if I’m a contractual employee at an AIIMS? Am I eligible for age relaxation?
Contractual employees of certain institutes (e.g., AIIMS Bilaspur, AIIMS Raipur, CNCI Kolkata) may be eligible for age relaxation equivalent to their contractual service period, subject to a maximum of 5 years. However, this is institute-specific. Check the DRA carefully for the particular AIIMS and post you are applying for.
Q: What happens if I score well in CBT but fail the Skill Test?
Candidates who qualify the CBT but do not clear the Skill Test can still be considered for posts within the same group that do NOT require a Skill Test, subject to eligibility and merit.
Q: How will the merit list be prepared if the exam is conducted in multiple shifts?
Normalization of scores will be applied as per AIIMS’s procedure detailed in Notice No. 35/2023. The final merit is based on normalized CBT marks, not raw scores.
