Five vacancies carry horizontal reservation for eligible Persons with Benchmark Disabilities: three in CS, one in DA and one in EC. The notification also identifies one SC and three OBC vacancies as backlog vacancies. CERT-In may increase or decrease the advertised vacancy count at its discretion.
PAY SCALE AND POST LEVEL

SELECTION PROCESS
The CERT-In Scientist B Selection Process 2026 consists of four main steps
- GATE-score-based shortlisting.
- Document verification.
- Personal interaction/interview.
- Final merit preparation.
GATE-BASED SHORTLISTING
Eligible applicants will be shortlisted discipline-wise and category-wise using their valid GATE score. The normal shortlisting ratio is 1:5. When multiple candidates have the same GATE score at the shortlisting cut-off, all candidates with that score may be called even when the ratio exceeds 1:5.
Equal consideration will be given to valid GATE scores from 2024, 2025 and 2026.
DOCUMENT VERIFICATION
Document verification will take place before the personal interaction/interview. Candidates who fail to attend with the required original documents will not be permitted to proceed.
Candidates must also validate the GATE score during verification by logging in to the GATE result portal using their own credentials. They should retain their enrolment number, registration ID and GATE login password.
PERSONAL INTERACTION/INTERVIEW
The interaction/interview carries a maximum of 50 marks. Assessment will cover:
- Technical and academic knowledge.
- Presentation, communication, comprehension and related skills.
- Academic performance in the essential qualification.

TIE-BREAKING RULES
When two or more candidates obtain the same aggregate marks, the order of preference will be:
- Higher GATE score.
- Higher marks in the technical or academic knowledge portion of the interview.
- Older candidate by age.

IMPORTANT CATEGORY CERTIFICATE CONDITIONS
OBC-NCL applicants must possess a Central Government format certificate for appointment to Government of India posts. The notification requires a certificate issued during Financial Year 2026–27, meaning on or after 1 April 2026. A certificate issued only for a State Government list or for educational admission will not be accepted for this recruitment.
PwBD candidates must submit the prescribed permanent disability certificate showing at least 40% disability.
EWS candidates must submit the prescribed Income and Asset Certificate valid for the required period and issued by a competent authority.
