CERT-In Scientist B Recruitment 2026 Notification for 133 Group A Vacancies

CERT-In Scientist B Recruitment 2026 has been announced for 133 Group A vacancies in Computer Science and Information Technology, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, and Electronics and Communication Engineering. The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team, functioning under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, will fill these Scientist-B posts through direct recruitment.

Selected candidates will be appointed at Pay Level 10 with a salary range of ₹56,100 to ₹1,77,500 under the 7th Central Pay Commission. A valid GATE score from 2024, 2025 or 2026 in the relevant paper is compulsory. No previous work experience is required.

Five vacancies carry horizontal reservation for eligible Persons with Benchmark Disabilities: three in CS, one in DA and one in EC. The notification also identifies one SC and three OBC vacancies as backlog vacancies. CERT-In may increase or decrease the advertised vacancy count at its discretion.

PAY SCALE AND POST LEVEL

Scientist-B is equivalent to a Group A post in Pay Level 10 of the 7th Central Pay Commission. The notified pay range is ₹56,100 to ₹1,77,500.

The advertisement does not provide a fixed in-hand salary figure because the final monthly amount can vary with posting, admissible allowances and deductions. Candidates should therefore treat the official Level 10 pay range as the confirmed salary information.

GATE SCORE REQUIREMENT

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

Candidates must complete the prescribed qualification by 17 August 2026. CERT-In will not accept a claim that an unlisted qualification is merely equivalent to the qualification specified in the advertisement.

COMPUTER SCIENCE AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY — GATE CS

Applicants must hold a valid GATE CS score from 2024, 2025 or 2026. The essential qualification may be one of the following:

  1. A minimum four-year Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology.
  2. A relevant Master’s degree in a Science discipline.
  3. Master of Computer Applications.

SELECTION PROCESS

The CERT-In Scientist B Selection Process 2026 consists of four main steps

  1. GATE-score-based shortlisting.
  2. Document verification.
  3. Personal interaction/interview.
  4. Final merit preparation.

GATE-BASED SHORTLISTING

Eligible applicants will be shortlisted discipline-wise and category-wise using their valid GATE score. The normal shortlisting ratio is 1:5. When multiple candidates have the same GATE score at the shortlisting cut-off, all candidates with that score may be called even when the ratio exceeds 1:5.

Equal consideration will be given to valid GATE scores from 2024, 2025 and 2026.

DOCUMENT VERIFICATION

Document verification will take place before the personal interaction/interview. Candidates who fail to attend with the required original documents will not be permitted to proceed.

Candidates must also validate the GATE score during verification by logging in to the GATE result portal using their own credentials. They should retain their enrolment number, registration ID and GATE login password.

PERSONAL INTERACTION/INTERVIEW

The interaction/interview carries a maximum of 50 marks. Assessment will cover:

  • Technical and academic knowledge.
  • Presentation, communication, comprehension and related skills.
  • Academic performance in the essential qualification.

TIE-BREAKING RULES

When two or more candidates obtain the same aggregate marks, the order of preference will be:

  1. Higher GATE score.
  2. Higher marks in the technical or academic knowledge portion of the interview.
  3. Older candidate by age.

  • Recent colour photograph in JPEG/JPG format, 50 KB to 200 KB.
  • Signature in blue or black ink in JPEG/JPG format, 10 KB to 50 KB.
  • Date-of-birth proof.
  • Aadhaar or another Government-issued photo identity document.
  • Matriculation certificate.
  • Senior Secondary certificate.
  • GATE 2024, 2025 or 2026 scorecard.
  • Essential qualification certificate and marksheets.
  • CGPA conversion certificate, where applicable.
  • SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS certificate, where applicable.
  • PwBD certificate showing at least 40% permanent disability, where applicable.
  • NOC for candidates working in Government, PSU, autonomous or aided organisations, where applicable.
  • Age-relaxation or ex-serviceman certificate, where applicable.

Uploaded PDF documents must be legible, self-attested, not password-protected and normally between 10 KB and 500 KB as specified.

IMPORTANT CATEGORY CERTIFICATE CONDITIONS

OBC-NCL applicants must possess a Central Government format certificate for appointment to Government of India posts. The notification requires a certificate issued during Financial Year 2026–27, meaning on or after 1 April 2026. A certificate issued only for a State Government list or for educational admission will not be accepted for this recruitment.

PwBD candidates must submit the prescribed permanent disability certificate showing at least 40% disability.

EWS candidates must submit the prescribed Income and Asset Certificate valid for the required period and issued by a competent authority.
